Often people new to the practice of feng shui focus first on the interior of their home or apartment, concentrating on the arrangemnent of rooms, the flow of chi , the way the furniture is placed.
And while the fengshui of interiors is as important as that of the exterior environment, good interior feng shui is not of much use if structures in the surrounding environment are sending killing, destructive energy towards your home. So your first approach must always b e defensive in nature. Begin by examining structures in the vicinity of your home to see whether they are hurting you or feel threatening to you in any way. Here are few examples of potentially harmful structures.
Angular Features send shar chi
1. Bridges - Energy around bridges is very powerful due to heavy concentration of traffic... and houses built at either end of a bridges will usually suffer from too much yang energy causing an unsettled atmosphere, and conflict between residents of such household.
2. Churches, Crosses & Spires - Don't live in homes facing spires or crosses atop a church as these angular features send inauspicious energy your way. While the cross protects the church itself and sends harmful shar chi outwards. If main door faces a cross or spires of church, try to use another door as your main door. In addition, places of worship often have an excess of yin energy and living too close can upset the balance of energy in the home.
3. High Voltage Transmission Towers can really cause problems with feng shui. Planting tall trees in between home and tower can be a good solution. Having a small pond can also offset the fire energy of the tower.
4. Other Buildings/surrounding apartments - Elevations and shapes of surrounding buildings could be potentially threatening so be aware of sharp or jagged edges pointed towards your condominium or apartment.
5. Communication Towers - Do not have the main door facing directly to anything Tall & Straight. Best solution is to use another entrance or plant trees or foliage to block the view. If is an apartment, Best thing to do is to use heavy drapes to completely block out the towers.
6. Graveyards exude yin energy.
7. Police Station and prisons are threatening in terms of the amount of yin energy they exude. The same applies to abandoned buildings and houses as well as graveyards and hospitals. Best not to live too close to such places. Dumps and rubbish heaps are also pretty bad.
These are just a few of the structures that may be affecting the fengshui of homes. Generally if they are very far off they will not cause problems to you... But the most important thing is if the structure feels threatening to you. If it does, then take the appropriate action.
Be sure to take care of any poison arrows sending shar chi towards your home or apartment first, before getting started on the fengshui of the interior of your home or apartment.
Good luck to All
